21 March 2015, 12:40 |

Buildings as a Source of Energy – Free to attend Seminar, Vision London, June 3, 2015 @ 1pm

With the UK currently facing some of the most pressing housing issues of recent history, Vision London will take a look at how some architects and designers are developing solutions that are practical and affordable yet designed with community in mind. Cutting-edge case studies will be presented to public. Richard Coutts, Director of BACA Architects will introduce the UK’s first amphibious and flood resilient home designed to tackle UK’s increasing risk of flood, while Amsterdam-based architect Paul de Ruiter will talk about the St John Baptiste, a social housing scheme which has been built around its own community school and where the children’s playground is at the very heart of the scheme. Additional exemplar dwellings will be shown by passivhaus specialist Jonathan Hines of Architype.

The above is part of an extensive speaker programme for the two-day exhibition being held at Olympia on the 2 and 3 June (2015).
Covering the four themes of ‘Future Materials and Systems’, ‘Technology’, ‘Innovation in Architecture and Design’, and ‘Building for Health and Wellbeing’, the seminar programme will see more than 100 influential industry figures speak over the course of the two day event.
