The new office tower for WBRC Development has been awarded the first-ever BREEAM UK New Construction 2014 certificate for building design.

“The BREEAM UK New Construction 2014 scheme represents the latest and highest standard of sustainability. This achievement demonstrates a genuine commitment by the project team to deliver a high-quality development that will benefit the building owners and occupiers into the future.” Gavin Dunn, Director of BREEAM

Located at 52 Lime Street in the city of London, the development is due for completion in 2017 to become the European headquarters of global insurance business W. R. Berkley Corporation.

The building development team includes architectural design by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), Skanska as the main contractor and Arup taking lead on all aspects of structural engineering.

Awarded a BREEAM Excellent rating, the tower will feature floor plates ranging from 6,500 to 16,000 sq. ft. arranged around a southern core, maximising available floor area and limiting solar gain.

Able to offer all round views of London, the tower will be approximately 190m tall and will accommodate over 35 office floors with approximately 400,000 sq. ft. of space.

Adjacent to the tower will feature a new public open space, a re-creation of the 17th century ‘Lime Street Square’ which was lost in the 1940s.
