A very warm welcome to Julie Hirigoyen, new CEO at UKGBC

11 April 2015, 12:48 |

Julie Hirigoyen begins her new role at UK Green Building Council as a new Chief Executive.
We, the Ongreening team and its founder Alfonso Senatore, take the chance to wish Julie all the best in her new position and, of course, a very warm welcome.

Julie, formerly UK Head of Sustainability for international property consultants JLL, was appointed to the role after an extensive recruitment process, which attracted an extremely strong field of applicants.

My inspiration comes from a deep-seated respect for the natural environment, and a distress in witnessing its destruction. I believe in the interconnectedness of all living things, whereby a perfect balance and harmony is the natural order of Life” said Julie. “Buildings’ effect on people is also paramount, not just on health and wellbeing but local economies, communities and our overall quality of life” she added.

Talking about the biggest challenges she mentions the building and construction industry fragmentation, building owners and the occupiers’ conflicting agendas and priorities, the difficult for businesses to navigate through the complex landscape made of tools, methodologies and various rating systems, and skills and education shortage.

As a proud member of the UKGBC, the Ongreening team confirms a full support to Julie.

As the Ongreening’s mission is to disseminate the best green building practices around the globe while promoting innovation across the construction sector, we hope to get the chance to become more and more actively involved in the UKGBC’s activities in the near future.
